Bank Windhoek’s Head of Specialist Finance, Saara Shivute, said that the Bank looks beyond a transaction as it fosters long-lasting partnerships. Shivute said this on Wednesday, 26 April 2023, in Oshakati, at the Bank Windhoek annual Northern Selekt Sales Awards.

During her keynote address, Shivute commended the vehicle industry for showcasing amicable results which reflect the resilience post the pandemic environment. “The vehicle sales environment has seen many challenges from supply chain distributions to the ever-volatile interest rate hike and heightened fuel prices,” she said. “All these factors impact the ability to sell vehicles in a market with a limited population like ours. Yet the vehicle dealership community have mastered these realities with innovation and determination,” she said.

Anton Kandjimi, from Indongo Ford, won the Award of Excellence as the Top Salesperson of the Year. Indongo Toyota Ongwediva’s Nikanor Shindombo was announced as the second-best Salesperson of the Year, followed by Abed Wapota from Pupkewitz Volkswagen, Ongwediva. Together, the trio brought in 35 top deals to Bank Windhoek in 2022.

With 21 top deals, Ongwediva’s Pupkewitz Volkswagen won the gold award as the leading Dealership of the Year. Oshakati’s Pupkewitz Toyota and Indongo Ford shared the joint silver award, with 20 deals each. Ongwediva Indongo Toyota walked away with the bronze prize with 18 sales. The northern dealerships brought in 59 deals to Bank Windhoek in 2022.

Asked how they worked towards achieving their goals, Kandjimi and Shindombo said that it took a lot of hard work and perseverance. Kandjimi added that one should not only consider external factors as a salesperson, but they should do their best and work hard. Shindombo said that he has always taken each year as a unique challenge to be positive and do his best to achieve more.

The duo added that the motor vehicle industry in the north is very competitive. They said the only way to make it is to work hard to remain relevant and work with Bank Windhoek. “The Bank’s financing options are quite reasonable. In our line of business, good service matters the most and Bank Windhoek understand this,” said Kandjimi. Shindombo noted that he is happy with the Bank’s assistance. "With Bank Windhoek, I feel at home, convenient and comfortable. Together, with the Bank, we assist customers with buying a vehicle,” he said.

Kandjimi and Shindombo thanked the Bank for hosting an award ceremony because it is rewarding and encourages them to keep doing their best.

Shivute congratulated the attendees and thanked them for their contribution. “We live in a time of rapid and profound change on many levels, and we must recognise and acknowledge the complexity and pressures.”

In its fourth edition, the Bank Windhoek annual Northern Selekt Sales Awards recognises the dealerships and salespersons in the automotive industry for their commitment, loyalty and support to Bank Windhoek and its customers during the Bank’s 2022 financial year.
